is congresswoman debbie wasserman schultz, chair of the dnc, it's great to have you here and i want to begin with the new poll numbers out today, a lot to talk about. let's go to the female vote, the president still leading with women in nevada and colorado but governor romney has tightened what was the several digit lead to single digits in both states. from your vantage point, what happened to the president's lead with women? >> i think, you know, we've always known that over time that the overall race in really every demographic was going to tighten and we think that the president by the time we reach election day and right now every day is election day in just about every state with women in particular because of the extreme views on women's health of mitt romney and paul ryan that have really come in -- on full display particularly in the last few days that president obama will end up with a double digit lead among women -- >> if these views are so extreme though -- congresswoman if these views are so extreme, why is there a tightening? why wouldn't the president just be storming away?

that dude was at the dnc, most people watched their tv sets for the news and for the dnc coverage than at any other time this year, it seemed. when he goes out on the trail, i'm sure those two nice gentlemen that i don't recognize from indiana are really happy. let me talk more about what happened last night, though, bill clinton wasn't anywhere to be seen last night and we want to know what you think about it because we actually tried to tap your thoughts very late last night. cnn did some late-night polling, calling you, hopefully not waking you up to ask you what you thought of the debate and mark preston is here to break down some of the answers we got. we talked about how people fwelt about the debate overall and it was a win, lose or draw and that was a draw, but there were some statistical issues that we need to put out there in terms of our sampling. can you give me the headline on that and go into deeper numbers? >> sure. this was a poll last night of 381 people who actually watched the debate and we got their sentiment whether they thought paul ryan had won or whether joe bid

years and why were the numbers so lackluster the day after the president gave his speech at the dnc taking the wind out of the dnc because the headline the next day was about a jobs number that wasn't very good. it doesn't make any sense. it defies logic. we know these people. we crunch the same numbers these people are crunching. it shows you how disgusting and contentious an election can be. people realize our government is big. it's become much bigger. and well thinking moderates in both parties can say we need a smaller footprint of the government. when the small government movement comes out and says crazy things like this it hurts their cause. >> agree with you. thanks for clearing that up. stay there we'll be back to you. stephen moore is a writer for the "wall street journal". stephen, i want to talk about the real stuff here, the real meat of this jobs report. i think christine's point is very valid and that is there's a reasonable and strong argument for mauler, more effective government in the united states but these kind of conspiracy theorys do nothing to then cause. >>

that this change happened as a result of the last debate? what was the money maker here? was it the dnc convention? what was it? >> i think there could have been, of course, any number of factors but the dnc seemed big n part because she spoke at it but maybe in larger part because it started to politicize the atmosphere and she's really counting on obama voters and traditional democrats coming out for her because that's where she's got the numerical advantage in the state. she needs people to remember they usually vote democrat. >> you talk about politicizing this one. a headline in "the daily beast" that says scott brown/elizabeth warren contest in massachusetts, ugliest senate race, that is not just a reference to the brown aides who were caught making an offensive gesture, i believe it was last week that happened? >> that was a sort of flashpoint. our poll i'm not sure fully reflected that. but it's definitely gotten a lot of people talking about the native american issue. the first time that it sort of seemed to backfire on brown because it showed it in a way that a lot of people thought was
